Tell us a bit about your childhood. Where did you grow up? I grew up in Jamaica Queens. I was an only child but I had a lot of cousins and for the most part the other kids knew not to mess with me.
What were some benefits and challenges of having a famous parent? Benefits where you get to have a lot of experiences that most people don’t get. Traveling, going to shows, meeting your idols. Challenges would be a lot of the time people don’t see you, they just see what you can do for them. You have people coming at you wanting to be your friend and date you but it’s not always because of who you are.
What has been the most exciting moment in your career so far? The most exciting moment so far, was when I first held the gloss. I felt like wow this is really my product! There’s nothing like seeing what’s in your head come to life.
We know that it’s tough to choose, but what is your favorite Lipmatic color? Lifes a Peach is probably my favorite, I think it just goes with my skin tone the best.
What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs? My advice would be not to stop or let anyone discourage you. And always aim higher then you’re goal.
What have been some of the barriers you’ve faced in this industry? Everyone expects me to rap or to be just like my dad. But I don’t rap..atleast I don’t think so (I’ve never tried), and I can’t be Nas I can only be myself.
What can we expect next for Destiny Jones? You can expect greatness. I plan on building my brand and myself as an actress. The best is yet to come.
