It’s nearly that glorious time of year again – temps are rising, snowstorms ebbing, and finally we will break out and dust off that happy spring wardrobe. After two years (!!) of pandemic, we are all aching to break out – out of our houses, out of masks, and out of sartorial ruts. Thus, this season the overarching fashion vibe is FUN. We’re seeing bold, bright colors; anything goes patterns; and daring, flirty pieces. Skin is in! From cutout dresses to throw back 70’s flares, it feels like everything trending is infused with a dose of joy. All in all, spring fashion feels playful – so have fun. We’ve earned it!
Miniskirts
Minis are all the rage, thanks in part to Miu Miu’s micro versions on the runway. While your street style interpretation doesn’t have to be as tiny, now is the time to show off those gams. Wear a traditional straight or A-line cut, or go for a preppy pleated version. Take it to another level and wear with a knee high boot.
Cutouts
One trend that has continued gaining momentum for a couple of seasons are cutouts. Just about every brand has a version – in dresses, shirts, pants and even shorts. Go major à la Rihanna, or stay subtle and show just a playful hint of skin.
Flares + Wide Leg Denim
We are officially exiting the skinny jeans era. I’m not mad about it! While they will probably always be in the peripheral, this season wide legs and flares are officially taking the front seat. Flares are a welcomed, flattering fit that feel fresh again. Wide leg denim is both comfortable and chic.
Vibrant Colors
Bold, bright hues are ruling the spring trend reports. Think juicy, eye-catching shades that exude confidence and spark joy. Orange and chartreuse are feeling especially of-the-moment; but you can’t go wrong with any bright pop of color.
Leather: Bombers + Motos
It’s nearly warm enough for spring coats– including leather jackets. This year they feel fresh when oversized. Motos are back, just be sure to don one a few sizes too big. And the bomber feels new again updated in luxe leather.
Loafers
The shoe-of-the-moment is none other than the humble loafer, in many iterations. A popular choice is the chunky platform; or add a dose of sophistication with embellished hardware. ASOS has tons of versions in a range of prices.
